The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005 - what does that mean?
Every employer, or person responsible for a building, must ensure that reasonable measures are in place to ensure safe evacuation of all occupants in an emergency.
Every employer or person responsible for a building must carry out risk assessment and put in place general fire precautions / procedures.
The Fire Brigade have a right to inspect at any time to enforce this Order.
They may
- serve notice to close premises (Prohibition Notice)
- Serve notice to make improvements (Improvement Notice) within a time scale
- Prosecute - impose a fine.
