Asbestos is the unseen killer and the greatest single cause of work-related deaths in the UK.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations came into force on 13 November 2006. The Regulations include a duty to manage asbestos in all non domestic premises.
What does this mean?
You need to take reasonable steps to find asbestos; to arrange removal if in bad condition or likely to be disturbed.
Any remaining or presumed asbestos must be managed - you should keep a management register.
Anyone likely to be working in an area containing (or presumed to contain) asbestos must be advised and hav access to the register.
